House P

the building is a one-family house for a couple with two children. the well-proportioned plot shape, the view of the hills unfolding to the east and the quiet environment provide a calm, secure basis for the family's everyday life.

during the examination of the masses a clear solution with an open gable roof was formed which also tries to preserve the simple design in terms of floor plan. the appearance of the street facade is practically a house archetype which has pleasant proportions, and the openings are also restrained. this strict framework is loosened towards the inner areas of the site, so when we reach the backyard, a looser form unfolds. the solid wall structure opens as well, and it becomes transparent. this is required by the internal functions: a large, connected space created by the living room-dining room-kitchen unit - which is the main place of family life – has been added, joined by the garden terrace and dining room, which can be used from spring to autumn, as well as the pool.

a straight staircase leads up to the first floor from the entrance. the spaces in the attic rooms with a more favorable ceiling height are created with pre-walls, these are also built-in wardrobes that provide significant storage space. thus, the upstairs children's rooms and guest rooms are of full value and the attic situation is almost imperceptible. the central space of the first floor is the children's playground, which is directly connected to the living room with the help of the air space next to it. the ceilings everywhere follow the slope of the roof, creating spacious and generous interior spaces.

we wanted to preserve the simplicity of the mass with the detailing, so the roof is designed without eaves and with gable walls. these detailed solutions on the one hand make the building modern, but at the same time they also refer to the mass form of the hundreds of years old wine cellars present in Páty and its surroundings. despite the difference in scale and function, these were inspiration during the design process, so their materials also appear by the use of stone and plaster.

the general surface is an off-white plaster, which is enriched by the reinforced concrete structure used to shade the terrace and pool and the limestone on the street section of the fence.
